    Review of Fall 2008

Hello, everyone. Beginning from this post, I will ONLY write in English. Sorry for this inconvenience. The reason I do so, because I found out it is very inefficient to organized, translate, and then rewrite my post in Chinese since I do keep a English journal for the purpose of daily writing practice.

    (大家好,从这个帖子开始,我会用英文书写。如有不便之处,非常抱歉。之所以这样做的原因,是我每天会用英文写一点东西,我觉得组织,翻译,然后用中文重写帖子没有什么效率。)

So on this blog, I will post something essential, refined, most-important, most-interesting from my ridiculous practical and long-winded daily logs.

Right now, taking a Christmas and New Year break in Long Island, New York, away from BYU, Provo, Utah, I am just glad that I have time to clean up all the clutters piled up in previous four months from school and really slow down, sit down, to think, think deep of something by the end of 2008.

    Christmas Tree and Me

First thing first, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2009 from NY :-)

Sincerely speaking, I didn't want to go back to school after such a fantabulicious summer time in NY, but Fall 2008 semester actually ended up very good which was beyond my expectation. It ended beautifully just like the sunset (Provo) below:

    Sunset in Provo

As I have announced before, I won this year's IDSA scholarship (http://www.dexigner.com/product/news-g16182.html ). I am still holding the title until Summer 2009, until it is inherited by someone from BYU. I hope BYU could be third year in a row. From some conversations between me and Janna (Ms. Ziba!), I feel we do need some PR work to blast out our names from the middle of "no where." Not everyone knows that we had inters in Astro, Addidas, Ziba, Continuum, Smart, HP, Tupperware, Kyocera, GM... and interests from Microsoft, Whirlpool...

Holding the title isn't an easy thing, you automatically got expectation from people. It is a pressure that reminds you and keeps you producing good work. Well, it would be more sucky when you suck, lol!

The studio class in Fall 2008 was very interesting. The sponsor for the project was Logitech (previously WILIFE.) It was the first time I experienced a face-to-face collaboration of a corporation client in a class setting which is somewhat a much "looser" design environment. The corporate "buy-in" requirement in the curriculum was "a breeze of fresh air" for us. As a senior, I wasn't completely new to the design process, it was a great opportunity for me to practice what I have learned and what I knew.

The end result of the project? I won the biggest trophy and some $ bonus. Thanks for that, I flew first class first time in my life and had a crazy after-Christmas shopping in NYC.

Last semester, I finished a class called History of Interior Design. Gosh! I think the amount of architecture and furnishing pictures I have seen in that class were a way more than previous 20 years in my life. I have memorized loads of names of design, designers, styles, and features. They are pretty much all gone after the final. Test me next time to see if I still remember... Well, I do remember some of the expensive and too-famous pieces. :-D

I also finished my senior project. So in the Winter 2009, I will be a "freshman" again. What I really have to do is to finish 11 credit General Education, then I am done!

Oh, I got a bit "upgrades" during Fall 2008, such as from SONY Cybershot T7 to T700 (I love it!) and Sony Ericsson K750 to HTC G1 (Life is easier with it!)

Just like I said in the post exactly a year ago: "2008 - Opportunity." It is true.

    2009, Surpass!
